King Headz RC8 options

King Headz USA started a few years back with manufacturing cooling heads for 3.5 ccm model car engines.
Klick here for a review.
But soon Jim Walker president of
King Headz USA was asked to make plastic parts that look to be fragile on some cars into aluminum.
This has resulted in many nice looking hop ups.
The house color for the parts is Black with a Silver edge.

For the RC8 review we received the full hop up package available from
King Headz.
While looking through the parts we see the dedication and craftsmanship
King Headz is putting in the products.
If the hop up is merely for the bling bling only then it is worth to use them any way.
But many parts are purposely machined to enhance the original RC8 parts.
Does this make the RC8 original parts bad? NO not at all.
But sometimes small details are worth to be used to make life easier or to take that 0.1 sec of your lap time.
In some cases it is the assurance to have some more durability when you abuse the car.

All parts are machined from billet T6-7075 aluminum and black anodized.

Our test driver Mark van Waaijenburg will give his comments on the
King Headz parts and why he uses them over the original RC8 parts.
The info will be placed in his performance item.

RC8-015

The 2 piece EZ extended exchange motor mount.
This one is specially made for Nova Rossi based engines.
A version for Ninja based engines is available too as RC-015NJ.
Due to the extension there is less flex around the clutch bell area.

We had one wrong screw in the package.
The screw for the 5 hole was not countersunk.
Also the 3 mm lock nut was not in the package
.

The 2 piece EZ motor mount is fixed to the chassis by using 4 mm lock nuts, which can be replaced when worn out. No more need to use thread lock or damaging the head of the screws securing them.

Mounting the aluminum engine bars to the main frame uses spring washers. Would have been nice if 4 extra 3 mm spring washers were added for mounting the engine to the two bars so no thread lock is needed at all.

The manual clearly describes how to add the 5th hole to the chassis for the additional strength around the clutch bell area.

Weight: 28.7grams (Base), 14grams (Top Blocks)

RC8-070

Rear chassis stiffener.

Weight: 11.55 grams

RC8-050

These are also available separate.

Weight: 8.44 grams (each)

Hi,

This is the result:

PART                         ASSOCIATED           KING HEADZ              WEIGHT DIFFERENCE

Arm mount D               16,53gr                     8.60gr                         -7,93gr
Upper top plate            8,65gr                    14,10gr                        +5.45gr
Steering rack               5,22gr                      7,18gr                          +1,96gr

Front shock tower        14,95gr                   22,56gr                       +7,61gr
Rear shock tower         19,71gr                    30,47gr                       +10,76gr
Front chassis brace      9,84gr                     8,79gr                         -1.05gr
Rear chassis brace      11,76gr                     11,55gr                       -0,21gr
Servo saver posts        13,50 gr                   4,6gr                          -8,90gr (2 pieces)

total +  44,96gr
total -   44.93gr
total weight difference + 0,03gr

So if you hop up the car fully with King Headz parts you still are on the same weight as with the original car.

The parts we received were machined to very high standards.
The silver edge and the black anodizing are a nice trim to the original RC8 color.
For some it will be purely a piece of mind to mount one of them to be sure to finish a race.
Some will purely add it for the bling bling factor.
In either way
King Headz has succeed to deliver high standard products.
