Intro

To start, I like to thank two Spanish persons.
Carlos Gomez from Spain one of our major supporters for the past years for the contact with Tecro Tec and arrangement of the car.
Juan Pedro Martinez the boss of Tecro Tec who's company is distributor of Hong Nor in Spain for supplying the kit.

You can't wait? OK so lets start.

We all know the cars that Hong Nor has produced like the Hodr and Ultra series the past decade.
Some of these cars are also distributed under other brandnames like OFNA, YANKEE and Protech
The cars were to be used only by entry level and club drivers, but as real hardcore competition cars it looked like they were not suited.
Quality problems of the materials and maybe the believe that Taiwanese products can be cheap but never good might have been the cause of that.
Without being prejudice about there former cars ( I never build or driven one) we will look at this car as this is the first time we see and feel it.
The car is announced by Hong Nor with the following text:

The speed 9.5 is our best 1:8 scale model to date.
This model has taken over 12 months in development and testing and will please the most discerning of drivers.
The speed 9.5 incorporates many features that other makers can only dream about.
We have spared no expense in quality materials we have used in this model to make it stronger and lighter without sacrificing performance.

Strong words but for the moment we believe them and will see if they are true at the end.

02080002.jpg (46587 bytes) On the 08-02-2002 we received the car in a big carton.
02080006.jpg (57743 bytes) I opened the carton and found a large square carry bag with on top of it some Taiwanese language leaflets.
I put the leaflets beside and opened the zippers of the carry bag.
02080019.jpg (59537 bytes) Two big carton boxes inside of it, whow.
One box was empty but has all squares inside!
This to put in your tyres!! Good idea from HN.
02080022.jpg (43909 bytes) The other carton was heavy and when I opened it there were two other cartons inside.
The chassis, antenna tube and all decals were supplied separate in this carton.
When you finished the car you can put it in this carton for transport!
02080041.jpg (41606 bytes) One carton was carrying the tires, inserts, rims and spoiler.
02080065.jpg (54559 bytes) The other carton all the other parts.

One problem however, I looked everywhere but could not find the MANUAL!!! Oohps

So I contacted Juan Pedro at Tecro Tec and explained him that there was no manual with the car.
He was surprised as this was the first time this happened and promised to sent me one right away.
And on 19-02-2002 when the manual arrived we could start finally.

As you know I first read the manual 3 or 4 times before I start to unpack the parts.
You could try it your self, it really works out in the end.
The manual looks to be crisp and clear and could be a copy of ............... an other famous Japanese manufacturer.

On the first pages all parts, tools and other items needed to get the car running are mentioned.
One thing they have forgotten to mention is the thread lock you certainly need to build the car!

dsc_0037.jpg (16491 bytes) All parts are packed in bags numbered from 1 till 11.
One bag has no number but contains the bearings, grease, turnbuckle wrench and hexagon tools.
I do not know when writing this review if the bags are corresponding with the building steps and not all bags have to be opened to build certain steps. But we will see what happens.
