Step 30
The body comes with a foil that is not completely
covering the outside and attached to the body!
We use normal thin plastic householdfoil to cover up the outside to
prevent overspray.
Rough the inside of the body with waterproof sanding
paper on all spots except the places where the windows will come.
Do not be afraid we will see no scratches when the paint or decals are
applied.
The kit comes with pre cut self adhesive windows masks.
WHOOW!!! A nice thing and the first time I see this on a 1:8 scale buggy
kit I reviewed.
Take a small glass bowl and put some water in it. Then
put some drops of soap fluid in the water.
Remove the window decal from the sheet and make it wet with the water
& soap fluid. Then put the window decal on the right spot. When it is
on the right spot (you now still can move it) squeeze the water from
underneath the decal to the edges starting from the center until all water
is removed and the decal stays on its place. Let
the body dry for a few hours or use a hair dryer gun to accelerate the
drying process.
The kit comes with a nice sheet of colored decals that need
to be placed inside the body too. They can be oversprayed.
Make a design to your liking using the same procedure with the water &
soap fluid as used with the window masking decals. Let
the body dry for a few hours or use a hair dryer gun to accelerate the
drying process.
When all inside decals are in place wrap the outside of
the body with a thin layer of plastic householdfoil to prevent over
spraying.
I sprayed the body with Parma Faskolor water based fluorescent
yellow and red using an airbrush paint gun. Then I covered the inside with
2 layers of acrylic white from a spry can. This to make the water
based Faskolor paint water and fuel proof.
Remove the windows masking decals.
Now let the body dry for a few days to get the best adhesion of the Parma
Faskolor paint.
Cut the body so it fits the car. Take your time and use a
high speed Dremel tool and a lexan scissor to get the best result.
Also drill two 7 mm holes for the body post mounts to get through. The
spot in the front of the body is marked. The rear however is not!
Apply the other decals to the car.
Bend the body clips like this so you can remove them
easily.
Place the body on the car and secure it with the body
clips on the white marked spots.
It is a good idea to drill an extra 2 mm hole in the rear body post mount
at a 90 degree angle (green line) so the body clip can be placed from the
side of the car instead of the length.
