Step 31
The center differential top plate is made of
carbon fiber.
Place around the edge a small layer of cyano acrylic glue to prevent
carbon splitters.
Press the flanged 5 x 8 mm ball bearings in
the center differential top plate and use a tiny drop of cyano acrylic
glue to lock them in place.
The brake cams are identical and need to be
placed with the flat spot against the brake pads.
They have two holes that can be used later to
modify the brake linkage system.
Take one of the brake cams and place a brake
cam actuator in the lower hole.
Fit a 3 x 3 mm set screw using a 1.5 mm hexagon tool.
Do not use thread lock and make sure the brake cam actuator protrude the
brake cam 8 mm.
Place the front brake cam in the front center
differential holder.
Also place the rear brake cam in the rear center differential holder.
Fit the center differential top plate and
secure it with 3x 10 round head hexagon screws using a 2 mm hexagon tool
at the red marked spots.
Use light strength thread lock at the red marked spots.
At the green marked spots fit also 3 x 10 mm round head hexagon screws
using a 2 mm hexagon tool but only tight them by hand force and do not use
thread lock yet.
Check if the differential runs freely in the center differential holders.
Take the other brake cam actuator and bend
the eye in a 35 degree angle as the picture shows.
Slide the brake cam actuator in the rear
brake cam.
Fit a 3 x 3 mm set screw using a 1.5 mm hexagon tool.
Do not use thread lock and make sure the brake cam actuator protrude the
brake cam 4 mm.
Remove the two green marked screws and place
the fuel splash guard.
Refit the 3 x 10 mm round head hexagon screws using a 2 mm hexagon tool
and use some light strength thread lock.
The manual suggested fuel filter holder we are going to mount in a later
step as this part is in bag 8.
Nice the car comes
with a carbon fiber center differential top plate and brake cam ball
bearings.
