Step 44

picsstep44-001.jpg (45277 bytes) The car we reviewed comes standard with a EFRA 053 look a like inline style muffler system with medium length header.
picsstep44-002.jpg (35234 bytes) Take the muffler mounting post.
Fit a 3 x 3 mm setscrew a few turns in using a 2 mm hexagon tool.
Do not use thread lock yet!
picsstep44-003.jpg (44823 bytes) Place the muffler mounting post to the chassis.
Slide the muffler mounting wire in the hole of the muffler mounting post.
As you can see the muffler mounting wire will not touch the fuel tank as it has a nice cut out to prevent this, so straight muffler mounting wires can be used.
picsstep44-004.jpg (45757 bytes) Secure the muffler mounting post using a 4 x 10 mm countersunk hexagon screw using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool.
Do not tight it firmly as we need to adjust it later.
Do not use thread lock yet!
picsstep44-005.jpg (42881 bytes) The shiny polished muffler that came as standard with our reviewed car is a non EFRA number engraved 053 look a like.
picsstep44-006.jpg (42292 bytes) Place the silicone rubber at the start of the muffler.
picsstep44-007.jpg (39916 bytes) Connect the header to the muffler.
picsstep44-008.jpg (46106 bytes) Secure the header to the muffler with the three small springs using a small pliers.
picsstep44-009.jpg (39672 bytes) Fit in the tip of the muffler a 5 x 4 mm set screw a few turns using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool.
picsstep44-010.jpg (60519 bytes) Fit a silicone exhaust rubber on the engines exhaust.
picsstep44-011.jpg (71432 bytes) Fit the muffler mounting hole in the tip over the muffler mounting wire.
Fit the header to the exhaust.
Make sure the muffler system is mounted without stress and fits freely.
picsstep44-012.jpg (63462 bytes) Make sure the header is fully pushed against the engine exhaust silicone rubber.
picsstep44-013.jpg (41108 bytes) Take out the 3 x 3 mm set screw using a 2 mm hexagon tool.
Check the muffler does not touch the fuel tank. Keep a gap of 3 mm.
Refit the 3 x 3 mm set screw using a 2 mm hexagon tool
and apply some medium strength thread lock.
Tight it firmly.
picsstep44-014.jpg (49163 bytes) Take the muffler guard and mark the spot where it should be mounted.
picsstep44-015.jpg (54005 bytes) Remove the muffler from the engine.
Mark the place for the 3 mm holes and use a reamer or a 3 mm drill bit to make the holes.
picsstep44-018.jpg (47607 bytes) Place standard flat 3 mm nuts in the muffler guard.
picsstep44-016.jpg (43632 bytes) Secure the muffler guard with 3 x 5 mm countersunk hexagon screws using a 2 mm hexagon tool.
Use light strength thread lock.
picsstep44-019.jpg (68812 bytes) Refit the muffler and header and secure the header with a large spring.
picsstep44-021.jpg (51895 bytes) Tight the set screw in the tip of the muffler using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool firmly.
picsstep44-004.jpg (45757 bytes) Take out the 4 x10 mm countersunk hexagon screw using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool.
Secure the muffler mounting post using a 4 x 10 mm countersunk hexagon screw using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool.
Apply some medium strength thread lock.
picsstep44-025.jpg (63510 bytes) Left hand side view of the car
picsstep44-026.jpg (62051 bytes) Right hand side view of the car.
