Step 44
The car we reviewed comes standard with a
EFRA 053
look a like inline style muffler system with medium length header.
Take the muffler mounting post.
Fit a 3 x 3 mm setscrew a few turns in using a 2 mm hexagon tool.
Do not use thread lock yet!
Place the muffler mounting post to the
chassis.
Slide the muffler mounting wire in the hole of the muffler mounting post.
As you can see the muffler mounting wire will not touch the fuel tank as
it has a nice cut out to prevent this, so straight muffler mounting wires
can be used.
Secure the muffler mounting post using a 4 x
10 mm countersunk hexagon screw using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool.
Do not tight it firmly as we need to adjust it later.
Do not use thread lock yet!
The shiny polished muffler that came as
standard with our reviewed car is a non EFRA number engraved 053 look a like.
Place the silicone rubber at the start of the
muffler.
Connect the header to the muffler.
Secure the header to the muffler with the
three small springs using a small pliers.
Fit in the tip of the muffler a 5 x 4 mm set
screw a few turns using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool.
Fit a silicone exhaust rubber on the engines
exhaust.
Fit the muffler mounting hole in the tip over
the muffler mounting wire.
Fit the header to the exhaust.
Make sure the muffler system is mounted without stress and fits freely.
Make sure the header is fully pushed against
the engine exhaust silicone rubber.
Take out the 3 x 3 mm set screw using a 2 mm
hexagon tool.
Check the muffler does not touch the fuel tank. Keep a gap of 3 mm.
Refit the 3 x
3 mm set screw using a 2 mm hexagon tool and apply some medium strength thread lock.
Tight it firmly.
Take the muffler guard and mark the spot
where it should be mounted.
Remove the muffler from the engine.
Mark the place for the 3 mm holes and use a reamer or a 3 mm drill bit to make
the holes.
Place standard flat 3 mm nuts in the muffler guard.
Secure the muffler guard with 3 x 5 mm
countersunk hexagon screws using a 2 mm hexagon tool.
Use light strength thread lock.
Refit the muffler and header and secure the
header with a large spring.
Tight the set screw in the tip of the muffler
using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool firmly.
Take out the 4 x10 mm countersunk hexagon screw using a 2.5 mm hexagon
tool.
Secure the muffler mounting post using a 4 x 10 mm countersunk hexagon
screw using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool.
Apply some medium strength thread lock.
