Step 5
Take the number 2 labeled bag and open it.
All the parts from bag 2
Take the two gearboxes and
remove all burrs with a sharp hobby knife.
Take the gearbox and press a 8 x 16 x 5
mm ball bearing in.
Turn the gear box and press also a 6 x 16 x 5
ball bearing fully in.
Now slide the 13 teeth crown gear into the
just placed ball bearing fully through.
Take the center universal drive shaft and
place a 5 x 4 mm set screw two turns in the universal center drive shaft
using a 2.5 mm hexagon tool.
Apply a little high strength thread lock on the set screw.
Turn the flat spot on the pignon gear output
upwards
Now slide the center universal drive shaft on the output of the pignon
gear and tight the set screw using a 2.5 mm hexagon L shape tool firmly.
Make sure when you fit the center universal shaft to push the pignon gear
from the inside.
There may be no horizontal play on this combination.
To adjust the gear meshing of pignon and
crown gear in the gear boxes you can use 13 x 16 x 0.2 mm shim washers.
Depending on the gear meshing place one or
more 13 x 16 x 0.2 mm shim washers on the differential outputs.
All is depending on tolerances of the plastic and metal used in the car.
Place the front differential in the gear box as
shown and check for the meshing of pignon and crown gear.
A little play is allowed but less is better as long as the gears are
not sounding crunchy and have high spots while rotating by hand..
I our case we had to use at the red marked spot three 13 x 16 x 0.2 mm
shim washers.
Fit the other half of the gearbox and check
the gear meshing again!
Place the front lower aluminum hinge pin holder.
Secure the front lower hinge pin holder with 4 x 35 mm round head hexagon
screws using 2.5 mm hexagon tool at the red marked spot.
At the green marked spot place 4 x 16 mm round head hexagon screws using a
2.5 mm hexagon tool.
