These are the most commonly used
type of clutch with many available variations.
Swinging clutches have 2
or more
shoes.
Each shoe pivots on one end by a pin extruding from the
flywheel.
The other end is retained by a spring.
Centrifugal force of
the rotating flywheel will then cause the shoe to pivot outward forcing
the free end on to the inner surface of the bell.
