swinging clutches

These are the most commonly used type of clutch with many available variations.
Swinging clutches have 2 or more shoes.
Each shoe pivots on one end by a pin extruding from the flywheel.
The other end is retained by a spring.
Centrifugal force of the rotating flywheel will then cause the shoe to pivot outward forcing the free end on to the inner surface of the bell.

Here we have a Nuova-Foar 3 shoe swinging type with scissor springs.
Note that the leading edge of each shoe is mounted on  a pivot pin of the flywheel.

Here we have a SVM Crono 2 shoe swinging type with a circular return spring

Here we have a 2 shoe RMV Speed II swinging type with compression springs
