FC engines are made in Taiwan and the P4 costs about $100 in
the US. It's mounting holes appear to be the same as Picco's.
First off, the design of the crank case and head is changed. The
crankcase now looks like P8's and the head is a 50mm cylinder.
The engine starts easily in the beginning with the pull-start.
Oil starts leaking from the pull-start backplate
after 1 liter of fuel. When this happens the pull-start begin
to slip. The cure is to convert the engine to non-pull-start.
This can be done easily by replacing the backplate, and removing
the starting shaft/spring. After this, there is no leak ;-) An
addition benefit of doing this is that the engine will be quieter.
Force engines use a unique pull-start mechanism. When the engine
is running the one-way bearing won't turn like other pull-start
engines, rather the starting shaft is skidding on the starting
plate. This makes pretty loud "ping" noise when the
shaft skids a ramp on the plate. Carb adjustment is easy and performance
is ok for a 4-port beginner's engine. This engine doesn't like
too much oil in the fuel. Blue Thunder and Powermaster are ok.
