A model car engine needs fuel to run. You can buy your fuel or mix it yourself.
Warning! Model car fuels
are toxic and explosive!
Be careful and always store it in a constant temperature in a
well ventilated room between 10-20 °C.

The model car fuel is a mixture from methanol, nitromethane and oil in certain percentages.
Depending on the brand of engine, the oil percentage must
between the 10 and 18 %.
The Nitro may vary (depending on your requirements) between 10 to
30%.
The rest of the mixture is pure Methanol.
If you are running Italian based engines like Nova Rossi, Ops
or Picco the right amount of oil in your fuel is between 10 and 14%.
For some other brands like OS MAX and
Thunder Tiger the oil percentage must be higher according
to the user manual.
They state a minimum of 18%. OS MAX engineer said that for
racing 12% will do too.
With higher oil contents (>18%) the nitro
percentage then should be between 20% and 30% to have a higher caloric burning value of the fuel.
Always check the user manual that comes with your engine. If you
have doubt about the oil percentage ask your engine supplier or retailer to
advise.
All fuels mentioned below need to be tried for personal
satisfaction and engine requirements.
Nitro(methane) is an accelerator that boost up the performance
of the engine.
It gives some more rpm's and better idling. BUT!
BUT! BUT! Higher rpm's also means that the engine will wear
quicker.
A normal figure for race fuel is 75% methanol, 10% oil
and 15% nitro.
This is how to mix your own fuel with 10% oil and 15% Nitro:
Take a glass measuring bowl of one liter. Do not change the order of mixing!
Fill first 100 cc. of oil is 10%.
Now fill it up with 750 cc. of methanol is 75%.
Fill with 150 cc. nitro is 15%..
Stir the fuel with a clean plastic pin so all three ingredients are mixed thoroughly. Now put the fuel in a canister. And make the next liter if needed. Your fuel is sensitive for moisture. Especially Methanol and nitromethane are hygro scopic products "water magnets" what water concerns.
Before using your fuel, always first shake the canister to be
sure all components are mixed thoroughly.
Never leave the canister open and close it as soon as possible.
Do not leave the filling bottle open for a long time but use a
cap on it.
Some companies are making a secret of their
ingredients, to find out what to use for your engine check the
list below.
Here are some fuel brands with the known mixtures in % that can
be used with buggy engines in general
